Ten Gods in BaZi
The Ten Gods are symbolic relationship labels. Each visible stem in your chart is named by how it relates to your Day Master — as resource, wealth, officer, friend or output, in Yin and Yang forms.
What they are
Relationship labels, not literal people
The name “Ten Gods” is a translation of 十神. These are roles in the chart's grammar, not deities or real people. They describe how the other stems connect with the Day Master, and they are the traditional vocabulary for reading themes like support, effort, recognition and expression.
The five pairs
Five relationships, two polarities
Each relationship exists in Yin and Yang forms, making ten names: Direct Resource and Indirect Resource, Direct Wealth and Indirect Wealth, Direct Officer and Seven Killings, Companion and Rob Wealth, Eating God and Hurting Officer.
Resource stems relate to support and learning. Wealth relates to value and resources. Officer relates to structure and responsibility. Companion and Rob Wealth relate to peers and competition. Eating God and Hurting Officer relate to output and expression.
How to read them
Names describe how a stem behaves
A stem named Direct Wealth describes a relationship with your Day Master, not a promise of money. A stem named Direct Officer describes structure and duty, not a literal employer. Reading a chart means weighing these relationships together, in season and in context.
An honest boundary
Labels are not predictions
The Ten Gods describe patterns and tensions. No label by itself guarantees an event, and interpretation varies between schools. Use them as a language for reflection, not as a fixed forecast.
